ATOS, Atlanta Fox, and TCM Team Up Again
The Mark of Zorro Silent Classic at the Atlanta Fox August 25, with Clark Wilson at Mighty Mo!
For the second year in a row, the American Theatre Organ Society and Turner Classic Movies are presenting a silent film classic at Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre. On Thursday, August 25th at 7:30, swashbuckling hero Douglas Fairbanks stars in The Mark of Zorro. Organist Clark Wilson, the top silent film accompanist touring today, will provide his score for this silver screen classic on the Fox's famous "Mighty Mo" original 1929 theatre pipe organ.
TCM's weekend host Ben Mankiewicz will again be on stage at the event with his inside, behind-the-scenes stories that add so much to the festivities. And the Fox has once again added the film to its Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival. Last year's screening of The General brought a huge crowd on a Tuesday night. This year's Thursday event promises an even bigger audience to hear the great Mighty Mo do what the theatre organ was intended to do, i.e. present musical accompaniment for silent films.
The Fox hosts a wine-tasting party at 5:30 as an extra attraction. Doors will open at 6:30, and Organist-in-Residence Larry-Douglas Embury will perform his pre-show and sing-a-long starting about 6:50. See the ad here or go to the Fox website for ticketing information.
This marks the second consecutive year that ATOS has teamed with Turner Classic Movies and the Fox Theatre to present a silent film classic.
